If you decide to become a writer first of all you should learn these TOP 10 Writer`s Terms.
1. Manuscript (abbreviated MS for singular and MSS for plural)
Your completed book.

3. Query
A one-page letter to an agent or editor that explains what your book is about and who you are.

4. Sample chapters
Completed chapters of your ms or proposed book. For a novel, these should be the first chapters of the book. For nonfiction, you may choose those that best represent the style and tone of your project.

A short (usually one-page) front-to-back summary of your work.

7. Narrative nonfiction
True stories written in a narrative that reads like a novel’s. Narrative nonfiction goes under many names, including creative nonfiction, literary journalism, and fact-based storytelling.

8. Proposal

9. Royalty
When a book publisher contracts with an author to publish a book, in essence, the author (who is the copyright holder) grants the publisher the right to publish the work for an agreed-up amount of money. This money is called a royalty and is expressed in as a percentage of sales.
Пример: If the book has a list price of $10 and the royalty rate for bookstore sales is 10%, then the author earns $1 for every book sold in a bookstore.

10. Book advance
Most traditional publishers will give the author an advance against royalties. That is, they "advance" the author an amount of money based on what they think the book will earn.
